It’s often misidentified as the younger version of broccoli, but it’s an entirely different plant with longer, thinner stalks and smaller florets.
Broccolini is milder and sweeter than broccoli, with firm, crunchy stems, and leafy florets. It lends itself perfectly to use in stir fries, salads or as a delightful side dish with garlic and anchovies. While often people tend to eat just the leaves of broccoli (though the stalks are completely edible and delicious) when cooking broccolin you most definitely enjoy the entire plant, stalks and all.
