Method

.Preheat oven to 180&degC. Grease 26cm x 36cm baking dish, line base with baking paper.
.Using three packets, prepare cake mix according to the directions; pour into prepared dish. Bake about 1 hour. Stand cake in dish 5 minutes; turn onto wire rack to cool.
.To make butter cream, beat butter until white as possible, gradually beat in half the sifted icing sugar then milk, then remaining icing sugar. Beat until smooth.
.Using a serrated knife, level top of cake. Place cake, base-side up, on 35cm x 45cm rectangular prepared board. Spread top and side of cake with butter cream.
.Wrap ten licorice straps around sides of cake.
.Divide white chocolate Melts among 3 small bowls. Tint one portion with blue colouring, one with red, and one with yellow.
.Quickly spread each colour onto separate sheets of baking paper in 11cm x 22 cm rectangles. Just before chocolate sets, cut each rectangle into eight x 5.5cm squares.
.Place alternate colours of chocolate squares on cake, leaving narrow space between each horizontal row. Cut remaining licorice strap into three strips, place licorice strips between each row of chocolate squares.
.Pipe dark chocolate ladder shapes on baking paper; allow to set.
.Arrange snakes, “feet” sweets and chocolate ladders on cake. Using black decorating gel, pipe numbers on each square.

Children of all ages will be delighted with a cake that makes one of their favourite games good enough to eat.
