Method

.Preheat oven to 170°C/340°F. Grease 26cm x 35cm (10½-inch x 14-inch) baking dish; line base and sides with baking paper, extending paper 5cm above sides.
.Make cakes according to directions on packets. Spread mixture into dish; bake about 1 hour. Stand cake in dish 10 minutes before turning, top-side up, onto wire rack to cool.
.To make butter cream, beat butter until white as possible, gradually beat in half the sifted icing sugar then milk, then remaining icing sugar. Beat until smooth.
.Level cake top; turn cake cut-side down. Using picture as a guide, cut out monster; secure cake, cut-side down, to 30cm x 40cm (12-inch x 16-inch) rectangular cake board with a little butter cream.
.Reserve ⅓ cup butter cream; tint remaining butter cream blue. Spread blue butter cream all over cake.
.Using picture as a guide, push candy sticks into monster’s head. Position giant freckle in middle of monster’s face for the eye; secure chocolate button and mini fruit pastille to eye with a little butter cream.
.Trim and position licorice bootlace for mouth. Position pieces of mini Toblerone for teeth.
.Spread the biscuits with reserved plain butter cream; dip, iced-side down, into hundreds and thousands. Position iced biscuits on cake board for the monster’s arms and legs; secure with a little butter cream.

This playful, and friendly, looking monster will keep the little ones amused with its bright, cheery colours and smiling face.
