Not all slices are sweet! It's a little like a quiche sandwich.

20 Slice

Two layers of buttery pastry sandwiches a delicious savoury filling of ham, cheese and vegetables for a tasty and filling savoury lunch.




1.Preheat oven to hot, 200°C. Lightly grease a 20 x 30cm slab pan. Line base and sides with baking paper.
2.Sift flour into a bowl. Rub in butter using fingertips, until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add yolk and a little water, if required; form into a pliable dough. Wrap in plastic wrap; chill 20 minutes.
3.On a lightly floured surface, roll half the pastry out to fit base of pan. Ease into pan.
4.To make filling, in a bowl, combine all ingredients; season to taste.
5.Pour filling over pastry base. Roll out remaining pastry and cover filling; brush with extra egg. Bake 25-30 minutes, until golden.
6.Serve slice warm, cut into fingers.

If the pastry begins to crumble, chill 10 minutes.
