Method

1.Preheat oven to 180&degC. Grease deep 30cm round cake pan, line base with baking paper.
2.Using three packets, prepared cake mix according to directions; pour into prepared pan. Bake about 1¼ hour. Stand cake in pan 5 minutes; turn onto wire rack to cool.
3.To make butter cream, beat butter until white as possible, gradually beat in half the sifted icing sugar then milk, then remaining icing sugar. Beat until smooth.
4.Leave a quarter of the butter cream white. Divide remaining butter cream between two bowls; tint one portion with green colouring and the other with orange.
5.Using picture as a guide, cut out cat shape; discard scraps. Place cake on 40cm round prepared cake board.
6.Spread hat with green butter cream. Spread face and ears with orange butter cream. Spread mouth area with white butter cream.
7.For eyes, place mints in position, secure M&M’s in centre of mints with butter cream for pupils.
8.Using the red decorating gel, pipe on clumps of hair.
9.Cut licorice into thin strips for whiskers and mouth. Cut crystallised orange for the nose.

This rakish fellow has a touch of the scamp about him.
