Nut crumble


1.Preheat oven to 160ºC (140ºC fan-forced). Grease oven trays; line with baking paper.
2.Beat butter and sugar in medium bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Stir in sifted flours, in two batches. Knead dough on floured surface until smooth.
3.Divide dough in half; roll each piece between sheets of baking paper to 12cm x 24cm rectangle, place on tray. Refrigerate 30 minutes.
4.Meanwhile, make nut crumble; sift flour into medium bowl; rub in butter. Stir in sugar and nuts.
5.Cut dough into 3cm x 6cm bars; place on trays. Press crumble mixture onto shortbread.
6.Bake shortbread about 15 minutes; cool on trays.
