Method

1.Preheat oven to moderate. 180°C (160°C fan forced). Grease and line deep 26cm x 36cm baking dish, line 12-hole (2 tablespoon/40ml) patty pan with cases.
2.Make cake according to directions on packet. Place 2 tablespoons of mixture in each case, pour remaining mixture into prepared dish. Bake patty cakes, uncovered, in moderate oven about 20 minutes and large cake, uncovered, in moderate oven about 1 hour. Stand cakes 5 minutes, turn onto wire racks to cool.
3.Using serrated knife, level top of large cake. Place large cake on board, cut-side down.
4.To make butter cream. Beat butter in small bowl with electric mixer until as pale as possible. Gradually beat in half of the sugar, milk, then remaining sugar. Tint two-thirds of the butter cream with red colouring, spread all over large cake. Tint remaining butter cream with blue colouring, spread over tops of patty cakes.
5.Position jelly beans on half of the patty cakes for butterfly bodies, position freckles for butterfly wings. Cut fruit stick into small thin strips, position for butterfly antennae.
6.Using scissors, cut marshmallows in half, squeeze ends of marshmallows together to form petals. Position Smarties on remaining patty cakes for flower buds, position marshmallows for flower petals.
7.Position patty cakes on large cake to form the number 2.
