1.To make passionfruit glaze, stir ingredients in small saucepan over heat, without boiling, until sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, without stirring, about 2 minutes or until thickened slightly. Cool.
2.Preheat oven to 170°C (150°C fan-forced). Grease a 22cm springform tin and line base and side with baking paper.
3.Beat butter and sugar in a medium bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Stir in ground nuts and flour. Spread mixture into pan; top with pear halves.
4.Bake cake about 50 minutes. Stand cake in pan 15 minutes, then turn cake, top-side up, onto wire rack. Pour passionfruit glaze over cake.
