Butter cream

Method

1.Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F.
2.Line 12-hole (-cup/80ml) muffin pan with paper cases
3.Make cake according to directions on packet. Drop 2½ level tablespoons of mixture into each paper case; bake about 20 minutes. Stand cakes in pan for 5 minutes before turning, top-side up, onto a wire rack to cool.
4.Next make butter cream: beat butter until white as possible, gradually beat in half the sifted icing sugar then milk, then remaining icing sugar. Beat until smooth. Reserve 2 tablespoons of butter cream.
5.Divide remaining butter cream into three small bowls; tint one bowl green, one bowl blue, and stir the sifted cocoa into the third bowl of butter cream. Spread each butter cream over the tops of four cakes.
6.Using the picture as a guide, secure cakes on 40cm x 50cm covered cake board with a little butter cream to resemble the number 6.
7.Using the picture as a guide, decorate green cakes with Wonka Nerds Rope to make a trellis; intertwine with green snakes to resemble vines. Decorate with pink and green smarties and the halved green jelly beans.
8.Decorate brown cakes with the red snakes, green jubes and strawberries and cream jelly sweets. Position one half only of the jelly beans on one cake.
9.To make the mushrooms, secure the white Melts to the white jelly beans with a little butter cream; sprinkle Wonka Neon Nerds around the base of the mushrooms.
10.Decorate blue cakes by placing reserved plain butter cream into the paper piping bag and using to pipe clouds onto the cakes. Quarter the black and the yellow jelly beans lengthways.
11.Position the red, blue and purple smarties with quartered black jelly beans to make butterflies. Use yellow smarties and the quartered yellow jelly beans to make sun.

You’ll have ¾ cup of the cake mixture left over, enough for another three cup cakes.
