Method
1.Preheat oven to 180°C. Line 6-hole (¾-cup/180ml) texas muffin pan with paper cases.
2.Make cake according to directions on packet. Drop â…“ cup of the mixture into each paper case; bake about 25 minutes. Stand cakes in pan 5 minutes; turn, top-side up, onto wire rack to cool.
3.Meanwhile, to make butter cream, beat butter in a small bowl with an electric mixer until as white as possible. Beat in sifted icing sugar and milk, in two batches.
4.Divide butter cream equally into five small bowls; tint each bowl with one of the suggested colours: yellow, blue, green, purple and brown.
5.Spread purple butter cream over top of one cake. Using picture as a guide, position doughnut lollies for eyes and jelly beans for eyebrows. Position Jaffa for nose and freckle halves for ears. Shape and trim red sour strap to make mouth.
6.Spread green butter cream over top of one cake. Using picture as a guide, position M&M’s for eyes and Jaffa for nose. Shape and trim a strip of liquorice to make mouth and hat brim; top with candy orange wedge to make hat.
7.Spread brown butter cream over top of one cake. Using picture as a guide, trim and position liquorice strap. Secure strawberry and cream halves to liquorice strap with a little butter cream for eyes. Position jelly bean for nose and sour worm for mouth.
8.Spread blue butter cream over top of one cake. Secure mini M&M’s to peppermints with a little butter cream; position for eyes. Using picture as a guide, position jelly bean for nose. Shape a strip of the liquorice to make mouth; position on cake. Cut yellow fruit stick into thin strips; position on cake for hair.
9.Spread yellow butter cream over top of one cake. Secure mini M&M’s to peppermints with a little butter cream; position for eyes. Using picture as a guide, position jelly bean for nose. Shape liquorice into tongue; position on cake. Position candy orange wedges for ears.
10.You’ll have enough cake mixture left over to make one more funny face.
