1.Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease a 20cm x 30cm rectangular pan and line base and sides with baking paper, extending the paper 5cm over sides.
2.Process nuts until finely ground.
3.Whisk egg whites in a medium bowl with a fork until frothy. Stir in butter, sifted icing sugar and flour, rind, juice and ground nuts. Spread mixture in pan and top with slices of fig.
4.Bake slice about 25 minutes or until golden. Cool in pan. Dust with sifted extra icing sugar before cutting to serve.
