Apple and pear crumble

Serve this delicious gluten-free crumble with cold vanilla ice-cream.

Method

1.Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Grease deep 1.5-litre (6-cup) ovenproof dish.
2.Peel, core and quarter apples and pears; slice fruit thickly. Combine fruit, sugar and the water in large saucepan; cook, covered, about 10 minutes or until fruit is just tender. Drain; discard liquid.
3.Meanwhile, make crumble topping. Blend or process ground almonds, flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon until combined.
4.Place apple mixture in dish; sprinkle with topping. Bake crumble about 25 minutes.

To make a muesli crumble, prepare half the amount of basic crumble mixture; stir in 1 cup (100g) toasted muesli (note: this is not a gluten-free crumble). To make a coconut crumble, prepare half the amount of basic crumble mixture; stir in ½ cup (40g) shredded coconut.
