1.In a large saucepan, combine water, sugar, vanilla bean and cinnamon stick. Stir over a low heat, without boiling, until sugar dissolves.
2.Bring to the boil over a high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, without stirring, for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
3.Place strawberries in a bowl and pour over the hot syrup. Allow to cool. Serve with almond bread and thick cream.
