Wholemeal banana date and peanut loaf

Sweet, dense and nutty, this gorgeous banana, date and peanut loaf is wonderful enjoyed warm or cold with a slather of butter for a decadent morning tea.

Method

1.Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Grease a 15cm x 25cm loaf pan, line base with baking paper; grease paper.
2.Sift flour into a large bowl, mix in wheatgerm, sugar and dates. Stir in butter, milk, eggs and banana.
3.Pour into prepared pan, sprinkle with nuts, bake in moderate oven for about 1¼ hours.
4.Stand for 5 minutes before turning on to a wire rack to cool.

This loaf will keep in an airtight container for about 3 days.
