1.Preheat oven to 180°C/ 160°C fan forced. Grease and line base and side of a 20cm (base diameter) round cake pan with baking paper.
2.Combine butter, caster sugar, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda and 1 cup water in a large saucepan over low heat. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low: simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until mixture reduces slightly. Remove from heat. Cool slightly.
3.Whisk in egg. Stir in sifted flour. Pour into prepared pan. Gently tap base of pan to remove air bubbles. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a skewer inserted at centre comes out clean. Cool in pan for 5 minutes; transfer to a wire rack. Cool completely.
4.Using an electric mixer, beat cream cheese and sifted icing sugar in a medium bowl until smooth. Spread over cooled cake. Top with grated chocolate. Serve with strawberries.
