Method

1.Grease a deep 20cm round cake pan. Preheat oven to 180°C.
2.Cream butter and sugar in small bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time; beat until combined, then transfer mixture to large bowl. Fold in sifted dry ingredients, ground hazelnuts and apple.
3.Spread mixture into prepared pan, bake in moderate oven for about 55 minutes, stand 5 minutes before turning on to wire rack to cool. Spread with icing and decorate with hazelnuts.
4.Make lemon icing by beating butter in a small bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in sifted icing sugar, then enough lemon juice to give a spreadable consistency.
