Classic crunchy coleslaw

Coleslaw is an all-time favourite for any type of summer gathering, especially barbecues and picnics. This coleslaw dressing has an Asian-inspired twist.

If you’re asked to bring a plate or are heading to a picnic. this coleslaw recipe is a quick and easy favourite – simply pack the almonds, noodles and the coleslaw dressing separately to the cabbage mix. When you’re on location, toss the ingredients together just before serving.





DRESSING Place all ingredients in a screw-top jar; shake well.


Place cabbage, beans and green onion in a large bowl; mix well to combine.


Just before serving, toss through the almonds and the dressing. Sprinkle fried noodles over the top toss gently to combine.

For a presentation idea, we reserved a couple of the nicer looking outer leaves from the cabbage to line the salad bowl.

Coleslaw pairs deliciously well with all types of meats, as well as seafood and plant-based proteins. Coleslaw is the classic side salad for sweet sticky ribs and schnitzel, but goes just as well with other dinner ideas, from fish and chips to tofu recipes.
