Greek almond crescents

Adding a few drops of almond essence will give this tasty Greek almond crescents by recipes+ a lovely flavour. Wrap them in colourful paper and present them as a lovely Easter gift.

Ingredients

Method

1.

Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan forced. Grease and line 2 baking trays with baking paper.

Combine almond meal, sugar, zest and essence in a large bowl. Add egg white and stir until mixture forms a firm paste. Place almonds in a small bowl. Roll level tablespoons of mixture in almonds. Roll into 9cm logs, then shape to form crescents. Press any remaining almonds onto top.

Place on prepared trays. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on trays.

Omit the flaked almonds and bake as directed, then serve heavily dusted with icing sugar.
