Chocolate freckle slice
- 185 gram unsalted butter, softened
- 220 gram chocolate hazelnut spread
- 1/3 cup (75g) light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 3/4 cup (250g) plain flour, sifted
- 200 gram packet freckles (see notes)
Method
Chocolate freckle slice
- 1Preheat oven to 160ºC (140°C fan-forced).
- 2Grease a 20cm x 30cm rectangular pan; line base and long sides with baking paper, extending paper 5cm over sides.
- 3Beat butter, spread and sugar in a small bowl with an electric mixer, until combined. Stir in flour, in two batches. Press dough into pan; smooth surface with a spatula.
- 4Bake slice for about 25 minutes.
- 5Remove pan from oven; working quickly, press freckles firmly onto slice in rows about 1.5cm apart. Cool slice in pan; cut when cold.
Notes
Freckles are small chocolate discs covered with hundreds and thousands. They are available from supermarkets and confectionery stores.
