This super easy treat is guaranteed to impress at your next kids’ party or play date.

Ingredients

185 gram unsalted butter, softened

220 gram chocolate hazelnut spread

1/3 cup (75g) light brown sugar, firmly packed

1 3/4 cup (250g) plain flour, sifted

200 gram packet freckles (see notes)

Method

1.Preheat oven to 160ºC (140°C fan-forced).

2.Grease a 20cm x 30cm rectangular pan; line base and long sides with baking paper, extending paper 5cm over sides.

3.Beat butter, spread and sugar in a small bowl with an electric mixer, until combined. Stir in flour, in two batches. Press dough into pan; smooth surface with a spatula.

4.Bake slice for about 25 minutes.

5.Remove pan from oven; working quickly, press freckles firmly onto slice in rows about 1.5cm apart. Cool slice in pan; cut when cold.

Freckles are small chocolate discs covered with hundreds and thousands. They are available from supermarkets and confectionery stores.
