Like potato bake – but fancy! With onions, gruyere cheese and cream, potato gratin in your air fryer makes it simple to add a touch of class to dinner.
From the Thermomix to the Pie Maker we really love our appliances. The air fryer is another kitchen tool we’re in love with. The beloved air fryer lets you make fried foods without all the oil and it can be used for so much more.
The air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food using the convection mechanism. So whilst this recipe doesn’t cut down on the oil – cooking your gratin in the air fryer does cut down on the cooking time. As it is a smaller version of a convection oven, the air circulates around less volume allowing the food to be heated in a quicker and more efficient manner. Your rich and cheesy potato gratin will be ready with tender potatoes and browned cheese after only 25 mins of cooking versus close to an hour in your conventional oven.

Using a mandoline, V-slicer or sharp knife, slice potatoes very thinly.
Whisk cream, milk, rosemary and garlic in a large jug until combined, then season.
Layer potato slices, onion and cream mixture in a 20cm (8in) round ovenproof dish, finishing with the cream mixture. Using your hands, press down on the potatoes firmly.

Taking care, place the dish in the air fryer basket; at 160°C/325°F, cook for 25 minutes until potatoes are just tender.
Scatter potatoes with gruyère; at 160°C/325°F, cook for a further 5 minutes or until cheese is golden.
Sprinkle gratin with salt flakes to serve.
