1.Combine spices in a small bowl, then rub all over beef. Combine beef with remaining ingredients in a shallow bowl. Cover and refrigerate 3 hours or overnight, turning occasionally.
2.Heat covered barbecue to 180°C. Place roast in a disposable baking dish and brush with marinade. Cook, using indirect heat, following manufacturer’s instructions, about 1½ hours.
3.Remove roast from barbecue; cover, stand 5 minutes before slicing.
