Method

1.Place beans in medium bowl, cover with water; stand overnight. Drain.
2.Cook bacon, onion, garlic and spices in oiled large saucepan, stirring, until onion softens.
3.Add drained beans and remaining ingredients to pan; bring to the boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, about 1½ hours or until beans are just tender. Season to taste.
