Ingredients

Method

1.Put the beef, onion, herbs, barbecue sauce, breadcrumbs and egg in a large bowl; stir with a wooden spoon until mixed well. Using clean hands or an egg ring, shape beef mixture into four patties.
2.Put the oil in a large frying pan; turn the stove on to medium and heat the pan. Add patties; cook over medium heat about 8 minutes or until browned underneath. Use an egg slide to turn the patties; cook about 8 minutes or until browned on the other side and cooked through. Using the egg slide, remove patties from pan to a plate lined with a piece of absorbent paper to drain the fat. Cover them with foil to keep warm.
3.Turn on the grill (broiler) and let it heat up.
4.Place the hamburger buns, cut-side up, on an oven tray; toast the buns under the grill.
5.Put the bottom halves of the buns on serving plates; top with lettuce, tomato, beetroot, patties, cheese and tomato sauce. Place the rest of the bun halves on top

You can use small turkish bread rolls instead of hamburger buns.
