Butter cream (1 quantity)


1.Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan forced). Line 25 holes of the muffin pans with paper cases.
2.Make cakes according to directions on packets. Divide mixture evenly among paper cases, bake about 20 minutes. Stand cakes in pans for 5 minutes before turning, top-side up, onto wire racks to cool.
3.Divide butter cream into 5 bowls. Keep one bowl plain, tint remaining butter cream in four different shades of pink.
4.Spoon plain butter cream into a piping bag fitted with the piping tube, pipe onto five cakes. Repeat with remaining colours.
5.Cut 5 red ALLEN’S MARELLA Jubes in half crossways. Remove heads from ALLEN’S SNAKES ALIVE, tie tails into a knot. Cut and keep the bottle top tip from the top of ALLEN’S Milk Bottles (discard the bottle bases). Using the picture as a guide, decorate cakes with LIFE SAVERS, ALLEN’S and NESTLÉ lollies. Sprinkle with sanding sugar.
6.Arrange cupcakes, side by side, on cake board, in the shape of a heart.

Coloured butter cream can become lighter or darker on standing. If you have time, colour a small amount of the butter cream, then cover it with plastic wrap and allow it to stand for a few hours to determine if the colour fades or darkens. Plain butter cream is a cream colour, so when red or pink colours are added, the butter cream may appear to be apricot or salmon in colour.
