Method

1.Grease a 20cm ring pan.
2.Combine butter, dates, sugar, golden syrup, milk and egg in large bowl. Stir in the sifted dry ingredients in two lots. Spread into prepared pan
3.Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Bake for about 50 minutes. Stand 5 minutes before turning onto wire rack to cool.

Keeping time: 3 days.
