1.Preheat oven to 160°C/325°F.
2.Core unpeeled apples about three-quarters of the way down from stem end, making hole 4cm (1½ inches) in diameter. Use small sharp knife to score around centre of each apple.
3.Combine remaining ingredients in small bowl. Pack sultana mixture firmly into apples; stand apples upright in small baking dish.
4.Bake apples, uncovered, about 45 minutes. Serve with runny cream or custard, if desired.
