Oven-roasted apples

Granny Smith apples are crisp, juicy and tart, which makes them versatile in cooking and perfect for baking in pies, sauces and puddings, such as in this classic dish.

1.Preheat oven to 160°C/325°F.
2.Core unpeeled apples about three-quarters of the way down from stem end, making hole 4cm (1½ inches) in diameter. Use small sharp knife to score around centre of each apple.
3.Combine remaining ingredients in small bowl. Pack sultana mixture firmly into apples; stand apples upright in small baking dish.
4.Bake apples, uncovered, about 45 minutes. Serve with runny cream or custard, if desired.
