You’ve loved Julie Goodwin’s lamb forequarter chops tray bake, the perfect one-dish family dinner. This was originally published in The Australian Women’s Weekly in 2016 and put online this year.

Air fryer zucchini balls hit it out of the park, and our gorgeous apple and carrot cake rounded out the top three. While classic cooking and baking methods are always treasured, 2024’s popular appliances earned their spots on the bench, with slow cooker, air fryer and Instant Pot creations making the list.

From our collection of classics, the top recipes included our Anzac biscuit recipe, zucchini slice, chicken and leek pie, and our Christmas favourite, rum balls.

Food Director Fran Abdallaoui’s top picks

We asked our Food Director Fran Abdallaoui for her take on this year’s most popular new recipes. “What a delicious year it’s been and it’s no surprise that Julie Goodwin’s lamb chop recipe (pictured below) took out our most popular new recipe. It’s budget-friendly no-fuss comfort food at its tastiest! The flavours are familiar and the method super-easy and we all love that for midweek cooking,” says Abdallaoui.

“Apples were definitely the theme running through the trending baking recipes,” says Abdallaoui. “I agree the apple loaf and apple and carrot cake were high on my list of bakes for 2024. These results tell me you’re loving our classic recipes with a twist and sometimes even a retro favourite to nurture the soul! I’m looking forward to sharing loads more fabulous dishes with you in 2025. Happy cooking, Fran.”
