Prawn rolls with thousand island dressing
- 250 gram cooked prawns
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
- cracked pepper
- 1/2 iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 1 stalk celery, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, finely sliced
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- 6 sour dough baps or soft rolls
Method
Prawn rolls with thousand island dressing
- 1Thaw the prawns and remove the shells from at least half of them.
- 2Combine the mayonnaise, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, salt and cracked pepper, then add the prawns and let the flavours infuse. Chill until ready to serve.
- 3For the iceberg salad, combine the shredded lettuce with the celery, red onion and toasted sesame seeds.
- 4Halve the buns and fill with the iceberg salad, then top with the tangy prawn mayonnaise.
Notes
This little treat is like a prawn cocktail in a roll. The tangy dressing brings the prawns to life. Add a dash of brandy to the dressing for an adult version. These also make cute slider buns for a cocktail party.
