Honey and five-spice beef with broccolini
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 4 centimetre (20g) piece fresh ginger, grated
  • 750 gram beef strips
  • 2 tablespoon peanut oil
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 350 gram broccolini, coarsely chopped
  • 1/3 cup (35g) walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Method

    In a large bowl, combine five-spice, ginger, beef and half the oil. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.

    Heat remaining oil in wok. In batches, stir-fry beef until browned.
  • 3
    Add sauce, honey and juice to wok and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes.

    Return beef to wok with broccolini and stir-fry until broccolini is tender. Remove from heat; sprinkle with nuts and seeds to serve.
