Everything you need to know about the Air Fryer

From the Thermomix to the Pie Maker we really love our appliances, and there's another kitchen tool we're in love with that makes eating healthy so much easier; the beloved air fryer. It allows you to make fried foods without all the oil, and it can be used for so much more.

An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food using the convection mechanism.The technology circulates the air to temperatures up to 200 degrees, and the cooking chamber keeps the food close to the heating elements, allowing your food to be cooked in 10 to 20 minutes.The air fryer is extremely easy to use, and requires little to no maintenance. In addition to making the process of frying easier, it also results in healthier and tastier results.
This versatile appliance is a major winner for families because it:
  • is easy to use with a simple design and little prep needed.
  • provides a healthier alternative, using far less oil than a deep fryer (up to 80 per cent less) whilst managing to still achieve a crispy texture.
  • is convenient, cooking food in 10-20 minutes, making it a great choice for busy families.
  • provides an even result as the air fryer cooks from all angles.
However it;
  • is not suitable for certain foods. Wet foods, pasta and rice and certain vegetables can't be cooked in an air fryer.
  • Is a bulky item that takes up a lot of shelf space.
  • can be hard to clean and often not dishwasher safe.
  • is a bit of an investment. They vary in price but the average spend is about $160.
