Put your slow cooker to work with this meatballs in tomato sauce recipe. It makes a great family dinner either as spaghetti and meatballs, or served with potato mash sprinkled with parmesan.
How to make meatballs?
For juicy meatballs, we soak bread in milk for 10 minutes before adding this to the mince mixture.
1.Combine bread and milk in a large bowl; stand for 10 minutes. Add beef, onion, carrot, garlic, egg, tomato paste, oregano and chopped basil; season, mix well. Shape level tablespoons of mixture into balls. Place in a 4.5-litre (18-cup) slow cooker.
2.Heat oil in a large frying pan; cook extra onion and garlic, stirring, until onion softens. Stir in tomatoes, extra paste and stock; transfer to cooker. Cook, covered, on low, for about 6 hours. Season to taste.
3.Serve sprinkled with basil leaves.
