Spaghetti bolognese

Everyone has their favourite spag bol recipe and it's usually the first ever main dish we learn to cook. This one is simple but classic and ideal for the rookie chef in your family when it's their turn to make dinner.
Spaghetti bolognese

1.Lightly spray a frying pan with cooking oil spray and heat on medium. Cook onion and garlic for 5 minutes, stirring, until soft. Add carrot and celery and cook for another 5 minutes.
2.Increase heat to high, add mince and cook for 5 minutes, stirring to break up any lumps, until browned. Add tomato, parsley, oregano and 1/2 cup water. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 25 minutes.
3.Meanwhile, cook spaghetti in a large saucepan of boiling, salted water according to packet directions. Drain. Top spaghetti with bolognese sauce, sprinkle with parmesan and serve.

Choose lean or extra lean mince – the redder the mince, the leaner it’s likely to be. You could also buy blade steak, trim the fat and chop it finely.
