The air fryer apple crumble recipe makes four individual desserts. We’ve added a twist to the apple mixture, incorporating sliced strawberries. vanilla bean paste and orange juice. Plus a nutty and spiced topping.

Method

1.

Make spiced crumble topping: Place ingredients in a bowl. Using fingertips, rub mixture together until it forms small clumps.

Halve strawberries. Peel, core and coarsely chop apples. Combine apple, strawberries, vanilla, orange juice and maple syrup in a large bowl.

3.

Preheat a 5.3-litre air fryer to 180°C for 3 minutes.

Grease four 10cm ovenproof dishes; ensure the dishes will fit into the air fryer. Divide fruit mixture among dishes (fruit will reduce down during cooking).

Taking care, place dishes in the air fryer basket; at 180°C, cook for 10 minutes until fruit is almost tender.

6.

Top fruit with crumble topping. Cover dishes with foil; at 180°C, cook for 10–15 minutes until crumble is golden and fruit is bubbling.

7.

Top crumbles with flaked almonds and dust with icing sugar. Serve with ice-cream.

Can this air fryer apple crumble be made ahead?

Uncooked spiced crumble topping can be frozen for up to 3 months ahead. Use frozen and bake for 20 minutes.
