Method

1.

Cut licorice strap into 12 x 8cm (3¼-inch) long pieces. Trim ends on an angle to form a 3cm (1¼-inch) top and an 8cm (3¼-inch) base. Sit on inside edge of ice-cream cone.

2.

Melt chocolate (see tips below). Twist biscuits to halve; discard or reserve halves without filling for another use. Use melted chocolate to secure biscuits to licorice straps to make goggles.

3.

Cut jubes in half, cut each in half diagonally to form triangles to make bow ties. Use melted chocolate to secure bow ties and almonds to ice-cream cones. Fill cone cavities with licorice twists for fun hair.

How to melt chocolate

Place chocolate melts in a medium heatproof bowl over a medium saucepan of simmering water, making sure the water in the pan doesn’t touch the bottom of the bowl or the chocolate will overheat and seize (turn hard and grainy). Stir until chocolate is melted then remove from the heat.
