1.Preheat oven to 200ºC (180ºC fan-forced). Grease two 12-hole deep flat-based patty pans.
2.Using 7cm cutter, cut 24 rounds from pastry. Place rounds into patty pan holes.
3.Heat butter in small frying pan, cook asparagus, garlic and half of the thyme, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes or until asparagus is soft. Divide asparagus mixture and cheese among pastry cases.
4.Combine egg and cream in small jug, season with salt and pepper, then pour over asparagus and cheese mixture. Sprinkle tops with remaining thyme.
5.Bake tarts about 15 minutes or until browned lightly.
