The Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book has been delighting children for more than four decades, spreading colour, joy and a whole lot of buttercream with its fun and (mostly) achievable cake designs (tip truck cake, we’re looking at you!).
Now fans of the book can collect more than just memories of their favourite party cakes, they can collect coins celebrating these iconic party cakes too.

What’s in the Birthday Cake Book Coin collection?

The collection was designed by the Mint’s Lydia Ashe and includes 12 designs based on popular cakes from the book, including Dolly Varden, Rubber Ducky, Humpty Dumpty and the Pool Cake.
The coins will be available in four different formats, including a special edition recipe card box featuring the complete 12 coin collection ($175), and a hardcover cookbook ($85) with a proof $1 Choo-Choo Train coin.
There will be individual $1 coin cards for sale ($15 each).
The $1 coins can also be purchased as a 10-coin collection ($39), with a one-in-10 chance of finding a special Choo-Choo Train coin instead of the Racing Track.
Is there a coloured item in the coin collection?

Yes! There is a coloured $2 coin featuring the Hickory Dickory Watch cake. This can be purchased as part of the 12 coin recipe box set, or might just end up in your change if making a purchase at a participating newsXpress outlet.
