Red miso sauce

Authentic Japanese red miso sauce, also known as akamiso, from Australian Women's Weekly.

Red miso sauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white miso
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup caster sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon red miso

    Stir water, white miso, mirin, caster sugar, soy sauce and red miso in small saucepan over low heat until sugar dissolves; cool 5 minutes.


Add some crushed dried chilli for extra flavour. This sauce is typically served as an accompaniment to tofu and vegetables.
