Ingredients: 1 kilogram (2 pounds) potatoes, chopped coarsely; 1 cup (120g) frozen peas; 2/3 cup (160ml) buttermilk; 8 thick lamb sausages (1.2kg)

1 cup (120g) frozen peas

2/3 cup (160ml) buttermilk

8 thick lamb sausages (1.2kg)

Method

1.Boil, steam or microwave potato and peas, separately, until tender; drain. Mash potato; stir in peas and buttermilk. Season to taste.

2.Meanwhile, cook sausages in heated oiled large frying pan.

3.Serve sausages with pea mash.

If you don’t have buttermilk, stir 2 teaspoons lemon juice into ²/³ cup (180ml) low-fat milk.
