Known as kardemummabullar in Sweden, these soft, sweetly-spiced buns have a fragrant cardamom filling.
You will need quite a substantial amount of ground cardamom for this recipe to get the right taste. Removing cardamom seeds from their pod is quite laborious, so we suggest purchasing cardamom seeds (see tips) and grinding them yourself, if possible; alternatively, look for a spice shop that sells good-quality ground cardamom.
