Turkey meatballs with spaghetti

Oven-baked lean turkey meatballs are a healthy alternative to the standard beef recipe and this delicious dish teams them with wholemeal spaghetti for a nutritious and filling family meal.

Turkey meatballs with spaghetti
  • 250 gram turkey mince
  • 1/2 cup wholegrain breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup reduced fat ricotta
  • 1/3 cup frozen peas, blanched, mashed
  • 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves, plus extra to serve
  • grated zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 x 400g cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon chilli sauce
  • 125 gram wholemeal spaghetti, cooked following packet instructions
  • 2 tablespoon shaved parmesan
  • salad, to serve

    Preheat oven to 220°C. Line a small roasting pan with baking paper.

    In a bowl, combine mince, breadcrumbs, ricotta, peas, mint and zest. Season and mix well.

    Roll level tablespoons of mixture into balls. Arrange in pan. Spray with olive oil. Bake for 15 minutes.

    Pour over combined tomatoes and chilli sauce. Bake for a further 5 minutes until meatballs are cooked through and sauce is hot.

    Serve meatballs on a small portion of pasta, scattered with extra mint and parmesan. Accompany with salad.


Use chicken mince instead of turkey, if preferred.
