The ultimate hangover tonic juice

This refreshing juice from The Australian Women's Weekly's 'Juices and Smoothies' cookbook is packed full of goodness, from the beetroot that cleanses the blood and liver, coconut water for hydration, lime for alkaline qualities and activated charcoal as a natural detoxifier.

Ingredients

The ultimate hangover tonic juice
  • 1 medium beetroot (beet) (150g), washed, quartered
  • 1 small lime (65g), peeled, quartered
  • 1 cup (250ml) coconut water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon activated charcoal

Method

    Push beetroot and lime through a juice extractor into a jug. Pour coconut water into the juicer to help move any beetroot that may be stuck.

    Stir in honey and charcoal until well combined.

Notes

Activated charcoal is available from selected health food stores. Due to the detoxifying nature of activated charcoal, avoid drinking this tonic within 2 hours of taking medication or supplements.
