1.Heat oil in a deep frying pan over moderate heat. Add sausages; cook, turning 8 minutes, or until browned and almost cooked.
2.Transfer to a heatproof board. Slice thickly. Add onion and garlic to same pan over moderate heat; cook, stirring, 5 minutes, or until soft. Add paprika; cook, stirring, 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
3.Add tomatoes, sugar and water; bring to a simmer. Add sausage, beans and capsicum; simmer, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes, or until beans are just tender and sausages cooked; season. Serve with bread.
Buy large char-grilled red capsicum from the deli counter. If unavailable, use drained capsicum strips from a jar, available in the condiments aisle of supermarkets.
