Ingredients

Sausage rolls
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 medium_piece brown onion, finely chopped
  • 3 slice white bread
  • 350 gram (11 ounces) sausage mince
  • 350 gram (11 ounces) minced (ground) beef
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
  • 2 tablespoon fresh flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped

    Heat vegetable oil in small frying pan, cook finely chopped brown onion. Cut crusts off 3 slices white bread. Discard crusts. Dip bread in small bowl of cold water, remove immediately. Combine onion and bread in large bowl with sausage mince, ground beef, tomato paste, dried mixed herbs and finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley.

    Preheat oven to 220°C (200°C fan forced). Lightly oil two oven trays. Cut 4 sheets puff pastry in half lengthways. Place equal amounts of mixture lengthways along centre of each pastry piece, roll each pastry piece, from one wide edge, to enclose filling. Place four rolls, seam-side down, on each of the prepared trays; brush with lightly beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, cut each roll into eight pieces. Bake, uncovered, about 15 minutes.
