Pirate treasure chest cakes
  • 370 gram chocolate packet cake mix
  • 450 gram chocolate frosting
  • 240 gram licorice strap
  • 340 gram mini m&m’s
  • 2 100g gold coin lollies

    Preheat oven to moderate, 180C. Lightly grease recesses of a mini loaf pan.

    Prepare cake mix following packet instructions. Divide mixture between recesses. Bake 20-25 minutes until cooked when tested. Cool in pan 5 minutes then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

    Split cakes in half. Cut licorice strap into long, thin strips. Wrap 2 licorice straps around each chest, fixing in place with frosting and leaving open on one side for treasure.

    Attach M&Ms to licorice straps using frosting and allow to set. Fill chests with frosting, coins and remaining m&ms.


Line recesses with small pieces of baking paper if liked. Cakes are cooked if a skewer inserted in centre comes out clean.
