Hot fudge sauce
- 200 gram dark chocolate, chopped
- 3/4 cup cream
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Milk chocolate mud cake with hot fudge sauce
- 250 gram butter, chopped
- 200 gram milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 1 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 3/4 cup plain flour
- 1 cup self-raising flour
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup thickened cream, whipped
Method
Milk chocolate mud cake with hot fudge sauce
- 1Preheat oven to moderately slow, 160°C. Grease and line a 20cm square cake pan.
- 2In a saucepan, combine butter, chocolate, sugar and milk. Stir over low heat, without boiling, until smooth.
- 3Sift flours together and blend into chocolate mixture with eggs and vanilla.
- 4Pour into pan. Bake 1 hour 10 minutes, until cooked when tested.
- 5Cool in pan 10 minutes. Turn onto a wire rack to cool completely. Cut in half horizontally and fill with cream.
- 6To make the hot fudge sauce; in a saucepan, combine chocolate, cream, sugar and vanilla. Heat on low, 3-4 minutes, stirring, until melted. Keep warm. Spoon sauce over cake to serve.
