Lamb burgers

Give your barbeque a Mediterranean feel with these succulent lamb burgers by Woman's Day. Humus, mint and Turkish bread all serve to contribute to a unique and wonderful flavour.

Ingredients

Lamb burgers
  • 500 gram lamb mince
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoon chopped mint
  • 2 tablespoon toasted pine nuts
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried chilli flakes
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 cup hummus
  • 1 long turkish bread, quartered, halved, toasted
  • sliced tomato, rocket leaves, to serve

Method

    In a bowl, combine mince, onion, mint, pine nuts, egg, zest, cumin and chilli flakes. Season to taste; mix well. Shape mixture into 4 equal-sized flattened patties.

    Heat oil in a large frying pan on high; cook patties 3-4 minutes each side, until browned and cooked through. Remove; drain on paper towel.

    Spread hummus over base of each portion of turkish bread. Top with patty, tomato and rocket leaves. Finish with remaining half of bread. Serve with wedges, if liked.
