Chocolate hazelnut friands
- 6 egg whites
- 185 gram butter, melted
- 1 cup (100g) hazelnut meal
- 1 1/2 cup (240g) icing sugar
- 1/2 cup (75g) plain flour
- 100 gram dark eating chocolate, chopped coarsely
- 1/4 cup (35g) roasted hazelnuts, coarsely chopped
Method
Chocolate hazelnut friands
- 1Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan-forced). Grease 12 x ½-cup (125ml) rectangular or oval friand pans, stand on oven tray.
- 2Place egg whites in medium bowl, beat with a fork. Stir in butter, hazelnut meal and sifted icing sugar and flour, stir in chocolate. Spoon mixture into pan holes, sprinkle with nuts.
- 3Bake friands about 20 minutes. Stand friands in pans 5 minutes, turn, top-side up, onto wire rack to cool.
Notes
Loaf and oval-shaped pans are available in racks, or as individual pans. It's the individual pans that need to be stood and baked on an oven tray, simply for easy handling.
