Method
1.Preheat oven to moderate, 180°C. Line an 18 x 28cm slice pan with baking paper.
2.Sift flour and cocoa together into a large bowl. Stir in coconut, sugar and nuts. Add butter. syrup and vanilla. Mix well.
3.Spoon mixture into pan, pressing down firmly. Bake 20-25 minutes, until cooked through and lightly browned.
4.To make Topping; In a medium saucepan, combine chocolate and butter. Stir over low heat 2-3 minutes, until melted and smooth.
5.Pour chocolate over biscuit base and spread evenly. Cool at room temperature until firm. Cut into squares to serve.
You can make the syrup easier to measure by heating it in the microwave on high (100 percent) power 10-20 seconds.
