Method

1.Place figs in medium bowl, cover with cold water, stand overnight, drain.
2.Combine figs with remaining ingredients in large saucepan, stir over high heat, without boiling, until sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat, simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes or until chutney thickens slightly. Discard cinnamon.
3.Spoon hot chutney into hot sterilised jars; seal immediately. Label and date jars when cold.

Chutney will thicken on standing, it should be quite runny after cooking.
