Spiced fruit compote

You can use any combination of dried fruit for this compote and, if you prefer, you can serve it warm with porridge for a healthy and hearty breakfast, or with ice-cream, as a sweet.

1.Combine the water, wine, sugar, rind, paste, cinnamon and cardamom in medium saucepan. Stir, over low heat, until sugar dissolves; bring to the boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, without stirring, 15 minutes.
2.Add fruit; simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes or until fruit softens. Cool fruit in syrup.
3.Serve compote topped with cream and sprinkled with ground cinnamon.

Recipe is not suitable to freeze.
